How do I provide a good photo for my portrait commission?

The table below shows what you have to take into account when submitting your photographs for a portrait commission.

1.

It is important to provide a high-resolution picture

when submitting a portrait on commission.

The clearer the picture, the more details

can be recognized and painted.

e.g. beauty marks, the exact eye colour and freckles.

Since my work focuses a lot on the eyes, an additional

close-up picture of the eye colour would help me a lot!

2.

OPTION 1

Do you want a portrait with 1 person/animal?

OPTION 2

Do you want a portrait with 2 or more people/animals?

3.

OPTION 1

Please provide a high-resolution picture of the object

  1. in naturel daylight (let the person face a window);

  2. in the exact pose the person needs to be painted in;

  3. from the waist up (as it shows more details in the faces);

  4. with a subtle smile or neutral expression (which gives the most natural result).

TIP: let the person face a window when taking their picture so their skin color looks naturel

OPTION 2

Please provide a high-resolution picture of the objects:

  1.  in naturel daylight;

  2. in the exact pose the objects need to be painted in;

  3. from the waist up;

  4. with a subtle smile or neutral expression.

4.

The photographs can - of course - be taken with

a smartphone, as long as the quality is good.

You can always send me multiple pictures so I can see which picture will work the best for a portrait.

Please also state your preferences for the colors of the clothing, prints, etc. so I can take this into account!

5.

Shortly after you send me the pictures via mail, you will get

a response on whether the picture is usable or not.

If not, I can provide you some simple tips on how to quickly create a better photo that is suitable for a portrait painting!

If yes, then I can happily start the painting process! :)
